Optima Racing Team

Optima Racing Team (ORT) was established in 2000 & our Junior Team in 2005. Our aim is to improve the performance of each individual athlete within our team environment.

The team is run with a “coach/athlete" centred approach and team numbers are kept low enough to ensures individual performance is our number one priority.

  • Performance = individuals getting the very best out of themselves.

  • The results of our coaching process can easily be measured through the results attained season upon season. With our head coach James Beckinsale being awarded regional and national coach of the year in 2006/ 07 by our governing body (BTF).

The proof that the structure works:

Athlete (age) HPW Distance PB ORT Trained
    Christine 32 06 – 08 Olyp 03.10 02.58
    James 35 10 – 14 IM 10.47 09.59
    Paul 42 12 – 14 IM 12.29 10.25
    Julian 25 10 – 12 Olyp 02.30 02.07
    Toby 25 10 – 12 IM 14.12 11.18
    Stephanie 28 10 – 12 Olyp 02.25 02.08
    John 41 07 – 12 Olyp 02 .55 02.40
    Stephanie 30 11 – 14 IM 11.30 10.44 (Hawaii)
    Edwina 26 12 – 14 IM - 10.49

You get out what you put in with endurance sports, so long as you have the right guidance…

    Our approach:
Performance is not about winning; it is about the individual increasing their skill (economy of motion) and conditioning levels (endurance) with the end result being the decreased in their triathlon times and if gifted possibly winning.

    Come and join us:
So if you are interested in a club where you will be coached to the best of your ability (not coached externally) and train with other like minded individuals Optima Racing Team is for you.
